Studies have pointed to a number of benefits associated with MHF-Y. Animals fed with MHF-Y showed greater weight gain than those in the control group, comparable to that of antibiotic-treated animals (Fig. 1). Furthermore, MHF-Y resulted in a lower incidence of diarrhea, also on par with results achievable with antibiotics (Fig. 2). Together, these results indicate that MHF-Y supplementation leads to higher productivity in pigs and is a good alternative to antibiotics used for growth promotion.
